What is a geographer? asked the little prince.
A geographer is a scholar who knows the location of all the seas, rivers, towns, mountains, and deserts.
That is very interesting, said the little prince.
    Here at last is a man who has a real profession!
And he cast a look around him at the planet of the geographer. It was the most magnificent and stately planet that he had ever seen.
Your planet is very beautiful, he said.
   Has it any oceans?
I couldn't tell you, said the geographer.
Ah~The little prince was disappointed.
   Has it any mountains?
I couldn't tell you, said the geographer.
   And towns, and rivers, and deserts?
I couldn't tell you that, either.

But you are a geographer!

小學階段的自然課程學習，是從對所處環境中的各種現象的覺察、探詢及理解的過程中培養興趣、學習方法、涵養能力的訓練。
從好奇心出發，從觀念、觀察、思考、歸納、設計、動手做等等的步驟去拓展。
不僅希望孩子能認識生物、進而能尊重生命，理解生態、進而能關懷環境，
更重要的是要能學會運用科學方法來解決問題，並且能夠延伸運用在自己的日常生活中，這才是最重要的！
現階段的孩子不應該是如故事中描述的那種地理學家，
而是應該勇敢嘗試，多聽、多看、多學習，培養能力、找到自己興趣的探險家！
